Bear bile farming
PAINFUL, ATROCIOUS, UNNECCESSARY
Über 10.000 Bären werden auf Gallefarmen in China gefangen gehalten, ca. 1.200 sind es in Vietnam. Die Farmer zapfen den Bären regelmäßig Galle ab, die dann in der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin und in Haushaltsprodukten verwendet wird. Das Abzapfen ist sehr schmerzhaft und kann massive Infektionen bei den Bären hervorrufen. Die Käfige sind teilweise so klein, dass die Tiere sich weder umdrehen, noch auf allen Vieren stehen können. Viele Bären werden als Welpen in Käfige gesperrt und bis zu 30 Jahre auf diese Weise gehalten.
Obwohl bereits effektive und kostengünstige pflanzliche und synthetische Alternativen zur Verfügung stehen, geht diese grausame Praktik bis heute weiter.
More than 10,000 bears are held captive in bile farms in China, and about 1,200 in Vietnam. The bears have their bile extracted regularly, which as well as in traditional medicine is also used in many ordinary household products.
Bile extraction is exceedingly painful and can cause massive infections for the bears. The cages are so small that the animals are unable to turn around or stand on all fours. Some bears are caged as cubs and kept for 30 years.
This cruel practice continues although plenty of effective and affordable herbal and synthetic alternatives are available.
